Rockin'

OK, this is another of those,"Steve is getting to be a grumpy old man" posts but I've had this belief ever since I was a kid. I find it offensive when someone says they are "rocking out" to non-rock music. For example, the recently departed Michael Jackson sang, "Rock With You". Now, this is clearly not rock n'roll music, but yet he had a big hit with it. If you are going to "rock", there need to be loud guitars, a real drum kit, and some very loud amplifiers. This also goes for all the talk about "rocking out" to dance music, rap, hip-hop, etc. Umm, you may be jumping around but unless it makes you want to pump your fist in the air (see Springsteen, Bruce as an example of real rock n' roll ), you aren't really rockin' are you?

  1. I have to agree with you Steve, but I think M.J. is substituting the word "ROCK" for getting busy, if you know what I mean? but that's just my opinion

  2. Anonymous, thnaks and you may be right. Given the sequined jump suit he wore for that video, it's probably best that I not ponder what gender/species that he wants to "rock" with.
